The Shipleys of Maryland

An Organization of the Descendents of Adam Shipley Who Came to Maryland From England in 1668

The Shipley DNA Project

The Shipleys of Maryland is an organization steeped in the history of our nation from its first settlements in the seventeenth century to our War for Independence and the expansion of its borders to the Pacific Ocean. We already know many of these stories and the family connections that made them happen, but there is much more to learn.

We have set up a Family Tree DNA project which is open to all who are interested in working together to find their common heritage through sharing of information and DNA testing.  All variant spellings are welcome.

Please follow the link below to access the Shipley DNA site.

The Mystery of the Broken Lines

Connecting the broken line of Shipleys with the documented decedents of Adam is one of the ways we expand the knowledge of our family and its contribution to our nation. If you think you may be a direct male descendent of Adam Shipley (.1) please review the Y-DNA Testing Status to see what participants are needed and if you are interested in participating in the project, contact Bill Shipley at and help us unlock the mystery of the broken lines.
